About the company

Hero MotoCorp Limited, also known as Hero Motorcycles, is an Indian two-wheeler manufacturer that makes motorcycles and scooters. While the company is the market leader in India, it is also the global leader in producing two-wheelers. That’s correct! Nobody in the world produces and sells as many two-wheelers as India’s Hero Motocorp.

Everything came to life in Ludhiana, Punjab. In 1956, the still well-known brand “Hero Cycles” came to power. Soon after the Munjal brothers founded the cycle company in 1975, it grew to become the nation’s largest manufacturer of bicycles.

Nobody could deny that “Hero Cycles” had captured the attention of international automakers. The Honda of Japan followed in 1983. Both brands were market leaders in their respective countries. Hero and Honda had to agree and sign contracts in which they collaborated. Hero Honda was born the following year, shortly after their alliance.

Hero and Honda both gave their best all over the years. As a result, the company is still the best motorcycle manufacturer in the number of motorcycles produced. However, rising tensions between the two companies led to the breakdown of collaboration. As a result, this successful alliance (Hero Honda) ended in 2010, and both became major competitors.

Hero MotoCorp currently has four manufacturing facilities in Haryana: Dharuhera, Neemrana, Gurgaon, Haridwar, and Uttarakhand. With over 6,000 dealerships across the country, Hero MotoCorp has penetrated most of India’s rural areas and metros. The company currently sells a diverse range of motorcycles and scooters, beginning with 100cc Splendors and progressing to 223cc Karizmas. A few Hero scooters, like the Maestro Edge, Duet, and Pleasure, are available in the market.

Electric scooters will be a significant part of Hero’s new product launches in the coming years. Hero MotoCorp is also focusing on green technologies, as evidenced by the unveiling of the Leap scooter, Duet E, and ioN at the last two Auto Expos.

Hero motorcycles start at Rs. 54,188. In India, Hero offers 20 new models, the most popular of which are the Splendor Plus, HF Deluxe, and Glamour. Hero’s upcoming bikes include the Leap Hybrid SES and XF3R. The most expensive Hero motorcycle is the Xpulse 200 4V, which costs Rs. 1,36,073.
