The 390 Adventure was KTM’s first ADV in India and was an instant success. However, the company recently introduced the new KTM 250 Adventure to broaden its appeal.

The KTM 250 Adventure is the entry-level model into the exciting world of KTM Adventure bikes. This compact, powerful, and agile all-rounder bike will keep you going long, making it ideal for daily commuting and venturing out a little further into the unknown.

This bike is sporty and fun to ride on tarmac, but it also draws on KTM’s rally experience to ensure it can handle rougher terrain. The popular KTM rally bikes inspire KTM 250 Adventure’s distinct design, but its influence extends beyond the design.

The KTM has boldly launched its 250 cc adventure bike in the Indian motorcycle market. Just like KTM Adventure 390, KTM 250 Adventure is a huge success and will stay in the Indian motorcycle market for many years.

What’s new in the latest model of KTM 250 Adventure?

There are only two updates from KTM on the latest model of KTM 250 Adventure.

  • The new bike model comes with two new colour schemes – Electric Orange and Factory Racing Blue.
  • KTM claims that the alloy wheel setup of the bike is now stronger than ever, and alloy wheels can tackle rough terrain without breaking a sweat.

Design of KTM 250 Adventure

The KTM 250 Adventure appears to be nearly identical to its larger sibling. It shares the bodywork, chassis, cycle parts, and wheels of the KTM 250 Adventure with the 390 Adventure.

The only visual differences are the slightly different colours and decals and the ‘250’ on the fuel tank, but only keen observers will notice them.

On the road, the 250 looks almost identical to the 390. However, the details have some differences, such as the steel handlebar, halogen headlight, and LCD console.

The KTM 250 Adventure offers a typical KTM-style bodywork with excellent ergonomics and an aggressive appearance inspired by rally bikes. The bodywork, ready for adventure, is produced in colour to keep its appearance fresh even after scratching.

The rear side panels and tank spoilers are a bit wider than the seat, improving control and reducing seat wear and tear. The fuel tank’s shape gives the rider maximum freedom of movement and control. The simple headlight mask draws inspiration from KTM’s rally bike generation to create a slim, lightweight front end.

Engine of the KTM 250 Adventure

KTM’s exciting world of ADVENTURE begins with a state-of-the-art, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke 248.8 cc engine. The engine produces the power of 30 PS @ 9000 rpm and 24 Nm torque @ 7500 rpm. The claimed mileage of KTM 250 Adventure is 38.12 kmpl.

The engine has an electric starter and provides smooth power for fun exploration.

Twin overhead camshafts, electronic fuel injection, and four valves are integral to the power delivery of the KTM 250 Adventure.

Furthermore, the two catalytic converters and the fuel tank ventilation system (EVAP system) improve emission values and prevent fuel vapours from entering the environment, making the KTM 250 Adventure extremely eco-friendly and compliant with the stringent EU5 exhaust emission standards.

Features of KTM 250 Adventure

To begin with, the 250 Adventure receives off-road ABS, as does its larger sibling, and a new LCD instrument display. However, it lacks the 390’s quick-shifter, cornering ABS, and traction control system.

Another significant difference is using a halogen headlight with LED DRLs rather than a full-LED setup.

MRF Mogrip Meteor tires are standard on the 250 Adventure.

When travelling on the road, a low front fender aids aerodynamics and keeps spray to a minimum, while a robust engine guard protects the engine and exhaust when venturing off the tarmac into the dirt.

The steel-trellis frame, subframe, and alloy wheels are the same as on the 390, with the steering head angle of 63.5 degrees. KTM has used the exact 100/90-19 front and 130/80-17 rear tire sizes. However, the 250 Adventure rides on MRF Mogrip Meteor FM2 tubeless tires rather than the 390’s Continental tires.

Transmission, suspension, and brake of KTM 250 Adventure

The KM 250 Adventure has a 6-speed solid sequential gearbox. The gear ratios perfectly match the power band of the 250 cc engine, so you can smoothly choose the right gear for either a smooth ride on the street or a more challenging ride off-road.

The KTM 250 Adventure draws on WP’s outstanding racing experience for a great handling package ready for more adventure after many years of development on the toughest terrain. The WP APEX suspension in the front and rear work with the chassis to provide comfort, control, and clearance for more challenging roads.

High-quality BYBRE brakes with a large 320 mm front brake disk and a 230 mm rear brake disk combined with a 4-piston radially mounted front calliper and a 1-piston floating rear calliper to provide the ideal balance of control and stopping power, which is further supported by KTM’s proven ABS system.

  • The tall 855mm saddle is uncomfortable for riders under 5ft 6in (my height is 5ft 11in), but you’ll get used to it after some time on the saddle.

  • A bike is a familiar place, with everything falling easily into hands. Even the LCD cluster is easy to read and well-organized.

  • KTM gets full marks for the riding position as long as you’re seated. It immediately puts you at ease, and the aggressive yet comfortable stance encourages you to go fast the moment you fire up the familiar (again) 248.8cc engine. The thrum is quieter than on the 390 Adventure, but the characteristic KTM soundtrack is audible at higher revs.

  • The 390 Adventure is outstanding on the road thanks to its supremely balanced chassis, which allows you to tip it into corners like a sport bike. The 250 Adventure is no exception; ride it fast on the straights and even faster in the corners.

  • The 250 Adventure will satisfy you if you enjoy fast trails. The latest modification with stronger spoke wheels has made the bike more off-road friendly; however, this bike might not be an excellent option for you if you are a hardcore off-roader.
