  • Recently, Bajaj has revised the price of motorcycles in India. Pulsar 200NS got launched at Rs. 1,25,030. This amount was Rs. 10,675 more than the BS4- complaint Pulsar 200 NS.
  • Again after the price hike in January 2021, Pulsar 200NS got another price hike in April 2021, followed by one more hike in July 2021. So, after all the price rise, the price of Pulsar 200 NS is now Rs. 1,39,546 (all, ex-showroom Delhi).
  • The motorcycle’s BS6 version offers more power and torque when compared to its forerunner.

Introduction of Pulsar 200 NS

Climbing the charts, Bajaj Pulsar 200NS comes with some fresh appeal and some never before features enough to make you contented. The motorcycle tends to provide sportiness in abundance.

Bajaj’s first proper streetfighter-styled Pulsar 200 NS has a compact and angular front end and a tiny visor to cover the speedometer. The bike proved to be the base for the next generations in the era of Pulsar.

The naked motorcycle entails new paint schemes and graphics, which makes it more attractive. The dual under-seat exhaust system and extra-wide rear tyre of the bike make it look way more aggressive.

In its class, Pulsar 200NS gets the tag of best selling bikes in India. The powerful engine, strong performance, and up-to-date features enhance the riding experience.

An appealing front complemented by a muscular fuel tank and sharp extensions makes the bike a hot favourite of the youths.

The 12-litre fuel capacity, decent knee recesses to provide a good holding, and tail section come with a sharp and minimal design. The perimeter frame and the mono suspension at the rear is the biggest highlight in Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS.

Addition of CDI Ignition Unit To the Engine

For BS6 norms, the 199cc liquid-cooled engine entails a new CDI ignition unit. The addition of a new CDI ignition unit gets more maps and provides a more precise spark duration. All these enhance combustion efficiency despite the riding loads and conditions.

So, the CDI ignition unit provides better efficiency, good performance, and a cleaner emission from the engine.

For BS6 compliance, there’s a fuel vapour recirculation unit and a reworked catalytic converter.

Changes In the Specifications

The main reason for the price hike includes the addition of fuel injection and an additional catalytic converter.

In the BS6 version, power got increased by 1PS to 24.5PS. The torque increased from 0.2Nm to 18.5Nm.

The Pulsar 200NS BS6 version remained unchanged, whether it be cosmetically or mechanically. Still, it got a perimeter frame with suspension in the telescopic fork and mono shock form.

Change in Looks

The three new paint options give a fresh look to the bike. The bike entails funky wheel rim graphics, which matches the bike. Pulsar NS200 now gets a belly-pan fairing as well.

Features of Pulsar 200NS

The sharp, aggressive styling with a muscular mass-forward look make NS200 more attractive. The semi-digital instrument cluster gets legible and gives hassle-free use. The motorcycle entails single-channel ABS.

The halogen headlamp with pilot lamps and a semi-digital instrument cluster add enhancement to the bike. The raised clip-on handlebars and split seats work to give a comfortable yet sporty riding position to some extent. The two-tone paint job with graphics also adds to its sporty look.

The motorcycle gets a shift light beacon with some readouts like:

With a sporty design, NS200 pathed the predecessors for how 200cc segment motorcycles should look like. Though the bike’s styling has remained unchanged since 2012 (its launch), its look gets compatible with the date.

With all-new decals and the matte finish, the bike stills give a very tough competition to many in the market. Pulsar 200NS has muscular curves at all the right places that’s more than enough to give it a better look.

The small cowl under the engine is the only part of the motorcycle that promotes sharpness. The kerb weight of the bike gets 156kg, and the ground clearance gets 168mm. The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres.

Engine and Performance of Pulsar 200NS

The motorcycle gets powered with a 199.5cc/4 strokes/SOHC/liquid-cooled engine. The single cooled engine comes with a maximum power output of 23.17bhp at 9,500rp. The engine gets a peak torque output of 18.3Nm at 8,000rpm.

The engine transfers its power to the chain drive through a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.

Pulsar 200NS can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 9.83 seconds and will go at a top speed of 136kmph. So, the acceleration gets brisk and gives the feeling of urgency.

The motorcycle retains a carburettor rather than changing it to fuel ignition, so it helps a tad with the power delivery. When compared to the KTM unit, the NS200 engine remains unpowered. But, it’s far smoother and powerful than the earlier Pulsars.

The centrally mounted exhaust with ExhaustTEC technology also adds to the engine performance by reducing backpressure.

Mileage Of Pulsar 200NS

Bajaj claims an overall mileage of 200NS to be 58kmpl. But the bike does not return the figures that Bajaj claims. However, triple spark technology escalates combustion efficiency. The better ride-ability at low revs also helps in increasing efficiency.

The motorcycle returns 30kmpl when ridden around the town, and on highways, the returns get 40kmpl. So, the bike gives an average mileage of 35kmpl when it uses a high-compression 200cc engine.

Handling of Pulsar 200 NS

The motorcycle gets equipped with 17 inches tubeless MRF Eurogrip tyres. The section tyre at the front is 100/80-17, and at the rear, it’s 130/70-17.

The bike gets built around a pressed steel perimeter chassis. It rides on telescopic forks suspension at the front and the rear on Nitrox mono shock absorber with canister suspension.

The unique tread pattern on the tyres keeps the bike firmly planted at the time of aggressive cornering. The wider turning radius means that you will not have to flick it effortlessly.

The braking system includes a 280mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear.
