About the Company

Suzuki Motorcycle India, Private Limited (SMI) is Suzuki, Japan’s wholly owned Indian subsidiary. It was Suzuki’s third automotive venture in India, following TVS Suzuki (1982-2001) and Maruti Suzuki (1982).

After splitting from TVS Motor Company in 2001, the company re-entered the market in 2006 as Suzuki Motorcycle India, Private Limited (SMI). The company has established a manufacturing facility in Gurgaon, Haryana, with a capacity of 5,40,000 units per year.

Suzuki is a Japanese automobile manufacturer that produces a full line of motorcycles and small combustion-powered engine products. It is a global behemoth with production facilities in over 22 countries. However, due to its collaboration with Maruti, it is best known as a car manufacturer in India. They form Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest automobile manufacturer. Suzuki is divided into three business segments: motorcycles, automobiles, and others.

The company produced motorcycles with two-stroke engines during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. When Joel Robert won the 1970 250cc world championship, Suzuki evolved as the first Japanese motorcycle manufacturer to do so. Suzuki debuted its first four-stroke motorcycles— the GS400 and GS750, in 1976. Following that, Suzuki built a reputation as a manufacturer of well-engineered sports motorcycles.

Suzuki invented four-wheeled ATVs in 1983 and the high-performance ATV in 1985, among many other ATV firsts. Suzuki’s intention to cater to the Indian enthusiast is reflected in the launch of two international models in India.

The newly assembled Hayabusa range of Suzuki superbikes – V-Strom, GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F, Intruder M1800R, and ATVs – Ozark 250 and QuadSport Z400 – are available in India. The Gixxer, Gixxer SF, Access, Hayate, and Let’s are among Suzuki India’s scooters and commuter motorcycles.

Suzuki has recently introduced new bike models in India, such as the Burgmann 125 and the Intruder 150, based on its high-powered offerings in the global market. Suzuki intends to launch a variety of exciting bikes across all categories in 2022.
