Introduction of Honda Activa 6G

The Honda Activa has been the best-selling scooter in India for many years. The Activa 6G is currently the most advanced Activa available in India, and this was possible for several reasons.

Honda is known for its impeccable reliability, smooth engine, and motorcycle parts that will last for years. In addition, the total cost of the service is reasonable, making it pocket friendly for the middle-class category.

Honda Activa 6G, the 6G, was launched by Honda almost two years after the previous variant of the Activa 5G got unveiled at Auto Expo 2018. The scooter complies with the new BS6 emission standard and is available in standard and premium versions.

To celebrate Activa’s 20th anniversary, the company launched the 20th Anniversary Edition in two variants with excellent colour options and unique features.

It is the new Honda Activa 6G and faces the difficult task of building on years of experience of its predecessors to become the best selling scooter in India. Honda prepared the Activa for a significant change by adding another G to the name with the launch of the BS6 emission standard.

Honda Activa 6G gets equipped with a 109.51cc BS6 engine. Cm develops a power of 7.68 hp. and a torque of 8.79 Nm. The Honda Activa 6G has drum brakes front and rear and a brake system on both wheels. The Activa 6G scooter weighs 107 kg and has 5.3-litre fuel tanks.

The Honda Activa 6G is a used scooter from India with a starting price of Rs 70,321 (ex-showroom price). Available in 4 variants and 8 colours, the highest price is Rs. 73,583 (ex-showroom price).

What’s New In The Honda Activa 6G?

The new Activa 6G looks identical to its predecessor at first glance, but only the 6G emblem is an important feature.

When using the Comfort scooter, you don’t have to press the new switch next to the ignition shaft to get off the scooter and access the fuel tank’s outer filler neck.

More extended seats provide a more comfortable ride for the driver and rear passengers. Like the Honda Activa 5G, the new Honda Activa 6G is also available in two standard and deluxe variants.

The Honda Activa 6G is powered by a new 109. 51cc BS6-compatible 4-stroke, fan-cooled SI engine and advanced PGMFi sensor system. The new Activa 6G also offers 10% more mileage. The new Activa 6G has a telescopic front fork and 3-stage adjustable spring hydraulics at the rear.

The rear wheel size of both scooters is still 10 inches. Talking about the new features of the Honda Activa 6G, the scooter has DC LED headlights.

The fuel tank cap is now on the outside. There is now a multifunction switch for access to the under-seat compartment and the external fuel cap.

Highlights of Honda Activa 6G

Features Of Honda Activa 6G

The Honda Activa 6G gets an external fuel filler cap, an engine start-stop switch, a silent starter, a dual-function switch that opens the seat and an outer fuel lid.

However, the biggest upgrade is the addition of telescopic forks at the front—the scooter rides on 12inch front and 10inch rear wheels.

To maximise overall comfort, the Activa 6G`s seat is quite long at 692mm.

While the new Activa continues its decent fit and finishes across plastic panels, it also exhibits rugged appeals are the metal under-seat panels and front fender, which happen to be one of its USPs.

The list of features in the BS6 Activa 125 had us expecting a similar treatment for the Activa 6G. On the contrary, the only new addons are an external fuel filler cap, an engine start-stop switch and a silent starter.

Honda has done away with an LED headlamp for the standard variant. And now it gets available only in the deluxe trim.

What’s more, both variants miss out on a semi-digital instrument cluster offered in the deluxe edition of the 5G model.

A double switch on the front panel opening the seat and an external fuel filler flap provides additional convenience. Sometimes we couldn’t get the switch to work. Also, the external fuel tank undoubtedly made life easier, but the locking mechanism on the metal cap felt a bit weird.

Once you get on the Activa 6G, you’ll first notice while riding the 5G that the footpeg fit is slightly higher due to the increased ground clearance. It can cause knee contact with the handle while taking a U-turn. Other than that, the overall ergonomics are neutral and comfortable.

Activa runs without problems (starting noise) when the starter button gets pressed, thanks to the new silent ACG starter. The description has always been the name of an Activa game and continues to be one of its strengths.

The engine remains smooth up to 60 km/h, after which small vibrations penetrate the stairs but are negligible.

Outside the line, the Activa feels as tangy as its predecessor, but as the rolling accelerates, the performance softens a bit. But it’s still fast enough to overtake a traffic jam easily.

The new Activa feels much more agile when going through traffic and changing lanes in terms of handling. It responds much faster to steering commands, a significant improvement over the fuzzy front end of the previous model.

Design Of Honda Activa 6G

In terms of overall styling, the latest Activa retains the same design but looks a little more attractive thanks to the chrome and redesigned bezels.

The design of the new Activa 6G has undergone some changes compared to the previous Activa model. Although very similar in appearance, Honda’s new scooter features redesigned front fenders, silver or chrome accents on the front apron, and single air intakes on the side panels.

An extended section at the scooter’s rear accommodates a new external fuel filler cap and a modified rear handrail.

The switchgear at the front of Honda Activa 6G contains a light switch and an engine switch. LED lighting in the headlamp combination is only available in the deluxe version.

The scooter measures 1833mm long, 697mm wide and 1156mm high. The ground clearance remains at 171mm, and the wheelbase remains at 1260mm. The seat length now changed to 692mm.

One particular edition variant is also on sale, but it is a limited edition model.

Riding Ergonomics Of Honda Activa 6G

Riders can experience a smooth and comfortable ride with the new 109.51cc BS6 single-cylinder engine. See it as an improved power supply. The Underbone chassis frame provides stability to the scooter.

In addition, telescopic suspension at the front, three-level adjustable spring-loaded hydraulic rear suspension, and 12-inch sheet metal wheels keep the scooter moving.

The wheelbase is 22mm longer; the ride height is 18mm higher than the previous version and 2kg lighter than the BS4. CombiBraking brakes and scooter suspension ensure a safe and hassle-free ride.

Expert Reviews

  • The eSP technology reduces friction & improves combustion, which results in delivering top-notch performance & mileage.

  • The seat is comfortable; it is easy to ride and has a good pick up. It has enough foot space to accommodate your legs as well as your luggage.

  • It is a reliable choice and something to put your trust in since it is a honda scooter, and we have seen Honda Activa for years.

  • The start/stop switch is a great feature; one can start the engine anytime with ease.

  • The multi-functional console with the features like a seat lock, fuel lid makes the riding experience convenient. The external fuel filling is the latest addition, so you can get your fuel-filled while sitting on your bike.

  • The new Activa 6G provides a more extended seat and a wider foot space, easily accommodating tall people.

  • The colour options are really good, and with four different variants at the stores, it gives a good range.

  • The silent start because the ACG system is perfect.

  • The eSP technology promises 10% more mileage, a blessing in disguise in times of constant price hikes in petrol.

  • Activa might be selling its name; because the performance seems to be deteriorating even with some new upgrades.

Conclusion

Honda Activa 6G comes with an incredibly refined engine, plusher ride quality and better handling than the other outgoing model. For added convenience, the scooter gets new features, but you sadly lose out on basic elements such as a digital display that comes as a standard fitment in most scooters these days.

Similarly, other fundamental constituents like front storage pockets, under-seat light and USB charger would have justified the price hike even more.

Overlooking these setbacks, the new Activa is still the purposeful ride the Indian audience has loved for years.

Courtesy of the telescopic forks and larger front wheel, the ride quality is substantially plusher. It gracefully absorbs small bumps, such as small dents and road seams. The brakes on the new Activa are still outstanding, as the combined braking system prevents the wheels from locking in most cases. However, the front can be more biting.
