What caught our eye today was the Yamaha R15 V3.0 in MotoGP edition. There’s something quite exciting coming up from Yamaha – a Monster Energy edition of the YZF-R15 V3.0 that will be launched within the next two months. The all-new model will feature Monster Energy graphics and lot more black instead of blue on the bodywork, like the UK-spec R125 and MotoGP bikes of Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales. As it is the only bike relevant to get the special edition in India within a couple of months.

Engine Specification:

Mechanically, the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 Monster Energy MotoGP edition will continue to be powered by the same with 155cc, SOHC, four-valve, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected motor produces 19.3hp and 15Nm of peak torque and also features Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). The engine is paired with a 6 speed transmission and the motorcycle also gets a slipper clutch with a new offering of Dual Channel ABS unit.

This year though, Monster Energy has become the Title sponsor for the premier racing team and hence the Monster Energy logo is now prominently seen on the MotoGP bike as the all-new Yamaha R15 V3 Edition is presented in a dual color scheme of Blue and Black. It gets black paint on body panels and blue highlights on fairing and fuel tank. The new bike will have Monster Energy graphics and a lot more black than blue on the bodywork.

In India, the standard Yamaha R15 V3 is available in color options of Thunder Grey and Racing Blue priced at Rs.1, 39,680. It also gets a new Darknight colour scheme, priced at Rs.1, 41,680. Next, it will get the Monster Energy MotoGP Edition, which will be priced marginally higher. Nevertheless, there’s again a catch. Last year, Yamaha kept the MotoGP edition of the R15 V3.0 to only a limited run of 5,000 units and they got sold out pretty quickly. What remaining part to be seen is whether Yamaha again keeps the new bike as a limited run model or for a limited time period?

Similar to the MotoGP edition of 2018, the R15 could demand a bit of a premium over the regular variant. R15 competes with Pulsar RS200 and newly launched Hero Xtreme 200S.
