Introduction of Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS

Triumph Motorcycles is one of the world’s oldest and most recognisable motorcycle brands. Triumph started in 1902 by selling bicycles with onboard motors and sewing machines. Throughout the 20th century, the company cemented its place in pop culture through television, movies, and racing.

The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS could easily dominate the naked superbike segment as it is less expensive and offers more horsepower than any other bike.

The Speed Triple 1200 RS is one of Triumph’s best-ever roadsters. It has become an even more darling bike for Indian riding enthusiasts because of its high-end electronics, brakes, and suspension.

The power and sound produced by the Speed Triple are incredibly exhilarating. In addition to these technological components for safety, the motorcycle comes with cruise control as standard.

What's New in the Latest Model of Triumph Speed Triple 1200?

  • Baja Orange is the new paint theme for the latest iteration of the motorcycle.
  • Silver Ice and Graphite ‘RS’ graphics on the fuel tank complement the new paint scheme.

Highlights of Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS

Design of Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS

The aggressive streetfighter design of the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS is retained, with a twin-pod headlight with eyebrow-style DRL at the front, muscular fuel tank, body-coloured engine cowl, rear cowl, single-sided swingarm, and side-slung exhaust.

Triumph’s latest semi-faired motorcycle is the Speed Triple 1200 RS. Despite the design changes, the engine and chassis are carried over from the naked Speed Triple RS.

The motorcycle has a semi-fairing that houses a round LED headlight. Unlike some of the company’s other models, the neo-retro design elements indicate this is not an all-out classic-looking motorcycle.

Aside from the semi-fairing, it looks very similar to the naked Speed on which it is based.

Colour and Variant of Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS

The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS is available in two colour options:

  • Sapphire Black,
  • Matt Silver Ice.

The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS comes in only one variant:

  • Speed Triple 1200 RS

The Engine of the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS

The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS has liquid-cooled 12 valves and a DOHC engine with a six-speed gearbox.

It is an 1160 cc, incline three-cylinder engine which produces very high 177.5 bph power at 10750 rpm and 125 Nm torque at 9000 rpm.

Features of Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS

The latest Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS has many great features that elevate it above previous models’ appeal and sophistication. The digital speedometer, digital tachometer, digital trip meter, and digital odometer are all available on the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS.

It has a multipoint sequential fuel injection system with electronic throttle control and a stainless steel three-into-one header system with an underslung primary silencer and a side-mounted secondary silencer.

The Speed Triple also offers Cruise control, a crucial aspect of a bike that produces power beyond control for easy drive on the highways or touring.

Shift Assist (Triumph Shift Assist up and down quick-shifter), a full keyless system, and multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection with electronic throttle control are also available on the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS .

The 5-inch TFT display is the same as RS. According to Triumph, it has been designed, like the RS, to make on-the-go adjustments easier, such as tinkering with the traction control settings.

Triumph’s ‘My Connectivity‘ system, which includes turn-by-turn navigation, GoPro controls, and other features, is also standard.

The riders get five riding modes Rain, Road, Sport, Track, and Rider.

Transmission, Suspension, and Brakes of Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS

The engine is linked to a new stacked 6-speed gearbox and includes an up/down quick-shifter. Triumph has also lowered the engine’s weight by 7kg and formed a new, free-breathing intake and exhaust system.

Ohlins 43 mm NIX30 upside-down forks with 120 mm of travel and adjustable preload, rebound, and compression damping serve as the front suspension. The rear suspension is an Hlins TTX36 twin tube monoshock with preload, rebound, and compression damping, 120 mm rear wheel travel.

The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS comes with double disc brakes in front and rear; There is little opportunity for improvement with twin 320mm discs and Stylema callipers up front. Stopping power is seemingly limitless, and an MCS radial master cylinder allows you can adjust the feel to your preference. Even the 220mm rear disc feels quite forceful and crisp!

Expert Reviews

  • On a racetrack, where the 1200’s brilliance can be appreciated, the Speed Triple finally exhibits actual superbike performance.

  • It carves through curves with the grace and balance of a well-set-up race bike and accelerates out of corners like you’ve pressed the fast-forward button.

  • Like before, the riding stance is athletic without jarring the knees or wrists, the footrests are the same height as before but shifted inboard for additional ground clearance, and it’s simple to get your feet flat on the floor.

  • One of the cosiest seats on any contemporary production bike, it’s 830mm high seat (up 5mm) is slimmer and longer to offer you the freedom to manoeuvre around in the corners.

  • With its lighter new aluminium frame, lighter engine, and 60% lighter lithium-ion battery, the new Speed Triple weighs 198 kg when ready to ride, 10 kilograms less than the previous model. Its power-to-weight ratio is 26% better and twice as large as the original model from 1994.
